I’m going to be honest: it felt impossible to write a standard "market update" this month without addressing the reality we are all living through in the Twin Cities.

Like many of you, my heart is heavy. The presence of federal agents in our streets and the chaos "Operation Metro Surge" has caused have made "business as usual" impossible. I know many of our local businesses are hurting as neighbors stay home, and I know many of you are losing sleep worried about friends and family.

I am firmly in solidarity with our neighbors calling for ICE to leave the Twin Cities. Our community cannot thrive when our neighbors live in fear. That being said, I’ve been inspired by how this city shows up. If you are looking for ways to give or receive aid, this list from MN50501 is an excellent resource for verified mutual aid funds and resources.

Why Real Estate Matters Right Now

It might seem strange to talk about housing data in the middle of this. But in my conversations with clients these past few weeks, I’m noticing a powerful theme: Resilience.

When the world feels chaotic, the need for a safe, stable sanctuary becomes primal. People aren’t fleeing Minneapolis; they are fighting for it. They are fighting to stay here, to plant deeper roots, and to protect the spaces where their families can flourish.

The data backs this up.

If you only read the national headlines, you might assume property values here are taking a hit. The data tells a very different story. Twin Cities housing values continue to hold strong and rise, and inventory remains tight because people want to be here. In fact, every showing I had last weekend was for buyers moving here from out of state who see the long-term value of our community.

As you can see above, our property values have weathered storms before. The current trend line proves that demand for life in the Twin Cities is stronger than the headlines.

We are all finding our own ways to protect what we love about this city. If I can be a resource for you right now, whether you need professional advice on your next move or just need to know where to drop off supplies, my door is always open.
