Neighborhood Guide: Northeast

Northeast Minneapolis is a hub for creativity and community. With an iconic arts district that bustles during the annual Art-a-Whirl festival, riverfront parks with skyline views like Boom Island, and a food scene of trendy restaurants, distilleries, and breweries balanced with old school supper clubs and dive bars, this neighborhood continues its rise in popularity.

Homes in the Neighborhood

The median sales price for a home in Northeast last month (March 2022) was $310,000 and was on the market for a median length of 11 days. The community of Northeast includes the neighborhoods of Audubon Park, Beltrami, Bottineau, Columbia Park, Holland, Logan Park, Marshall Terrace, Northeast Park, St. Anthony East, St. Anthony West, Sheridan, Waite Park, and Windom Park.

Northeast Dining

All Saints offers a chef-driven menu that’s veggie-forward and meat-friendly. Their salt and pepper mushrooms are like nothing you’ve ever had and in warmer weather, their patio can't be beat.

Centro and Vivir are a conjoined buzzy taqueria and all-day cafe that offer Mexican small plates, cocktails, and a curated market. If you are a tequila lover, booking an experience in their agave tasting room is a must.

Get global-inspired dishes, wood-fired pizza, and craft cocktails at Young Joni. My must-have menu items are their Thai Sausage, Whole Fish, and Soft Serve with Olive Oil and Sea Salt. Don’t skip out on a trip down the alley to the back bar, which has some of the most creative menu designs in town.

MN Nice Cream offers soft serve and customizable toppings galore because sometimes more is more and you just need some edible glitter. These instagrammable treats come in both regular and vegan flavors.

Crafted from their own ever-growing portfolio of spirits and liqueurs, the menu at Tattersall Distillery and cocktail room has something for every palette. Love what you had? Take a bottle to go and recreate the magic at home.

Northeast Shops

Unique apparel, gifts, art, and jewelry from hundreds of independent local artists and creators can be found i like you. Support local makers and give truly one-of-a-kind gifts with a stop at this cozy shop.

Larissa Loden’s Northrup King studio is filled with playful, minimal jewelry meant for everyday wear. My favorite pair of earrings ever were made by this talented lady right here in a special collaboration with another Northrup King resident, local muralist and painter Ashley Mary.

My happy place is near cheese. Specifically, the cheese and all its delightful accompaniments at Surdyk’s Cheese Shop. The mongers are friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to give you a sample of whatever fromage catches your eye. The connected wine and liquor store next door can provide the perfect beverage pairing.

Family-owned and operated since 1954, Kramarczuk's Sausage Company is a Northeast institution. Stop by the legendary deli and bakery to take home some perogies, smoked Ukrainian sausage, or grab a loaf of Polish rye to get a taste of the time-honored techniques and traditional recipes of their Eastern European specialties.
